Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

This policy explains what OKdoc (okdoc.in) collects, why, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email okdocin@gmail.com.

Who we are

OKdoc is a health organiser for Indian families, run by OKdoc (okdoc.in), Hyderabad, Telangana, India. We are responsible for the personal data described here (the "Data Fiduciary" under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023).

What we collect

  • Sign-in details: your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google. We don't use passwords.
  • Mobile number (optional): only if you add it in your profile. It is used only for medication reminders, never for sign-in, and we don't verify it.
  • Documents and AI summaries: prescriptions, lab reports, discharge summaries, insurance policies and other documents you scan or upload, the details we extract from them, and the summaries generated for you.
  • Family profiles: names, relationships and health details you add for family members, including children.
  • Health entries: medicines and reminders, symptom notes, insurance policies and claims you record.
  • OKdoc Plus payments: from Razorpay we receive the payment ID, amount, the email and phone number entered at checkout, and whether the payment succeeded. We never receive or store your card, UPI or bank details — Razorpay handles those.
  • Usage records: which limited features you used and when (to apply the free-plan limits), and hospitals you save or suggest.

"Near me" in the hospital directory uses your device's location only to find nearby hospitals for that search. We don't store it.

Why we use it

  • To run your account and show you your own records, reminders and summaries.
  • To read your documents and generate plain-language summaries and insurance explanations.
  • To send medication reminders, if you add a mobile number.
  • To activate OKdoc Plus after payment and apply free-plan limits.
  • To keep the service secure, fix problems and answer your emails.

We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't share your health information with insurers, employers or advertisers.

Where it is stored and who processes it

  • Supabase stores our database, sign-in and uploaded files in its Tokyo, Japan data centre. Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and Supabase encrypts data at rest. Access is limited to the OKdoc operator for support and legal reasons.
  • Anthropic (Claude API) processes the documents and text you submit to create AI summaries and explanations. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models under its commercial terms.
  • Netlify hosts the website and our server functions.
  • Razorpay processes OKdoc Plus payments.
  • Google handles "Continue with Google" sign-in, if you use it.

This means your data is stored and processed outside India — in Japan (Supabase) and in other countries where our providers operate, such as the United States. We only share what each provider needs to do its job.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except payment records, which we keep for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires. Deleted data may remain in backups until those backups expire.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act, 2023 you can:

  • get a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
  • have your data corrected, completed or updated (you can edit most of it in the app);
  • have your data erased, or withdraw your consent, by deleting your account;
  • nominate another person to exercise these rights if you die or become unable to;
  • raise a grievance with us, and if you are not satisfied, complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

To export or delete your data, or to use any of these rights, email okdocin@gmail.com from your sign-in email. We respond within 7 days.

Children and family members

OKdoc accounts are for adults (18+). A parent or guardian may add family members, including children, and gives consent on their behalf when doing so.

Browser storage

We keep your sign-in session and a few app settings in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
